eccentric contraction refers to elongation of a muscle during contraction.
In general endurance (resistance) local muscle is defined as the ability of a muscle group to perform repeated contractions (whether isotonic, isokinetic or eccentric) against a load or to support a contraction (isometric) for a long period of time. However, the muscular endurance can also be defined as the opposite of muscle fatigue.
